Frequently Asked Questions
Questions
When are services?
We worship Sunday afternoons at 4:30pm during the academic year.
Where are services?
Services take place in Lingle Chapel on the campus of Davidson College.
What is worship like?
We use the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and have Holy Eucharist at each service. Our worship is informal, inviting, and participatory.
How do I get in touch the the Episcopal Campus Minister?
The Rev. Elizabeth Marie Melchionna may be reached at chaplain@canterburyatdavidson.org or 704.877.4150.
What else does Canterbury Episcopal Fellowship do?
We are a community that worships, enjoys fellowship, and serves others. On Sundays after worship we gather for a home-cooked meal, prepared by members of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. There are opportunities for bible study on Tuesdays as well as an ecumenical Protestant worship service on Wednesdays. We participate with the Davidson College Chaplain’s Office to plan campus-wide worship services for Healing and Wholeness, Ash Wednesday, and Tenebrae.
We have worked with other campus ministries including the Catholic Campus Ministry, Orthodox Campus Ministry, Hillel, and the Muslim Student Association to restore a graveyard and host a Stop Hunger Now event.
We also take trips over spring break. In 2010 we made a pilgrimage to the monastic community of Taize in France. In 2011 we will visit with our partner parish in the Diocese of Costa Rica.
We also make lots of time to eat, enjoy one another’s company, and did we mention food?
What if I want to go to church on Sunday morning?
You are welcome at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Beginning September 12, 2010 services are held at 8 am and 10:30 am on Sunday mornings. Adult Christian formation takes place from 9:15-10:15 am. On the second Saturday of each month we have a Celtic Eucharist at 5 pm.
The Rev. David Buck ’71 is the Rector of St. Alban’s and the Rev. Elizabeth Marie Melchionna ’02 serves as Associate Rector. St. Alban’s is just under a mile from campus down Concord Road (301 Caldwell Lane). To find out more information about the parish go to: http://www.saintalbans-davidson.org/.
